Self Examination
Bob Plunket wrote the following article. I thought it was a very well written piece from which we all could derive benefit.
Doctors are telling us that we need to examine ourselves. Many tumors can be felt and moles change shape and color. We need to look and feel in order to catch these problems early. The Bible also teaches self-examination. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:28, "Let a man so examine himself." Here are some questions that someone put together for a spiritual examination:
· Am I so critical that I see only a person's failures and not his or her good points?
· Am I so childish that people must handle me gently lest I be offended?
· Am I mature enough to handle hurts and disappointments without feeling mistreated and making everyone else miserable?
· Do I hurt people while boasting "I believe in saying what I think"?
· Can I be completely trusted with confidential information?
· Am I guilty of making sarcastic remarks about the successes of others?
· Am I big enough to admit when I am wrong or do I seek to excuse myself by blaming others?
· Do I excuse my sins while self-righteously condemning others?
· Are others uplifted and encouraged through their association with me?
· Do I follow after peace or do my words and actions promote strife?
If 2008 is going to be the year that we experience true spiritual revival, we need to have a good understanding of where we are, and a vision for where we want to be. I hope the above questions will help us get started down that path.
Have a great week in the Lord! Tony Williams

THANK YOU's
Dear Westgate,
What a wonderful surprise to answer the doorbell and see poinsettias from "my church family". They have decorated the coffee table throughout the holidays and they still are! It is a reminder of your love. God bless you throughout 2008! - - Jean Dunn
Dear Westgate:
I can't tell you what a nice surprise it was for Dad, Mike and I to receive that beautiful poinsettia for Christmas! It looked so pretty in the house when family came over for the holidays. It was so thoughtful and really meant a lot.
Also, thank you so much for your prayers for Dad. He wanted to let everyone know that since he had the blood transfusion and completed his chemotherapy treatment prior to that, he has felt so much better. It is so encouraging to know he has a church family praying for him. Sincerely, - - Claiborne Duval and Angie & Mike Potyk
(Other Thank You's have come in the form of phone calls and personal verbal appreciations.)

It's Just A Little Thing
It's just a little thing. So smile ... shake a hand ... hug a neck ... pat a back ... kiss a cheek ... make a call ... make a visit ... bake a cake ... send a card ... send a flower ... give a gift ... give a break ... buy a lunch ... pay a bill ... say a prayer ... write a note ... keep a kid ... keep a secret ... share a verse ... share a lesson ... take a walk ... take a meal ... listen a minute ... play a game ... ask a favor ... do a favor ... remember a birthday ... forget a hurt ... bear a burden ... mend a fence ... tear down a wall ... build a bridge ... be a friend ... be a brother.
It's just a little thing, but it means so much!
